round and round
the earth goes about
a new day fresh

peace you feel

the harmony

the sounds of winter

crackling sound
of domains splitting
pieces of glass
gliding apart

only the wind
pushes them them float
so far apart
on their perfectly smooth back

there is no abrasion
no holding back
once the cold winds set in
and the ice has cracked

bright

bold to be bright
showing off in the light
cardinals in a tree
looking at me

they dance on the edge
under the eye of the hawk
where the balance tips
in a day from fall to winter

they sing their joy
to be alive, hopeful
that winter will show their bravery
that their energy will last until spring

spring when life will begin anew
when their colored coats will need not
demonstrate their boldness
