cupola

a thin curtain
separates us from rain
a thin glass wall
separates light from darkness.
our eyes blinded by the truths
we fabricate ourselves
warm themselves at the sight
of a large plasma screen.
it is this screen today
that squeezes tears
from tired eyelids
when the right emotions
have been projected
from the back of our brains.
and when has the screen come
as pretty as can be
to replace time
with family and bonding with friends
and when did our emotions arise
from seeing experiences of others
which remind us of ours?
and when did friends start to build walls
around imaginary cities
when have we learned to enjoy these walls
we surround ourselves with,
saying that they might protect us
against undesired invasions;
when have we drawn these beautiful curtains
to hide the fact that we like
to separate us
like these thin glass screens
that separate light from darkness.
