Life

The long memory of the short lived romans

Casts its shadow upon us

Children of their hopeful future

Walking on their immortal roads

We ask today whether

Killing each other with poisons

And daggers was worth it

A few  days of glory

When one could have lived long enough

To greet grandchildren

Rather than eat them

As monsters of time

Eat theirs again and again
